What have I done!?
<—- This is me. Oddly there also seems to be a margarita in the picture.
Here’s things I’ve done professionally.
A long time ago, I was a sign language interpreter (ASL). I worked mostly in colleges and some free lancing. I was a good interpreter, but not great as I am not a native signer.
But one day SRI was looking for an interpreter to hire on staff. Unheard of! Trust Jake Feinler to be ahead of her time. So I became one of the interpreters at the SRI Network Information Center (NIC).
And I eventually moved out of interpreting into the world of the Internet. It wasn’t called the Internet back then.
Then I kept doing Internet things. I went from SRI to NASA Ames, then to a startup called Nominum that survived the Internet crash, but never made it big. Nominum was bought by Akamai a few years ago.
For awhile, I participated in IETF and the IESG. That was awhile ago too. I met some very smart, very nice, very fun people there who I miss not seeing.
Now I’m trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
Trust me; I know. :)
This is meant as a light-hearted blog. I know how lucky I am to have this “issue” of trying to choose my next chapter in life. Please don’t scold me too much for not knowing what I want to be when I grow up.
